In the summer of 2009, we celebrated TEEP's tenth year at Trinity Church in Copley Square. During the last decade, we have accompanied more than 300 students and families on the long journey through middle and high school.
As we celebrate all the accomplishments of our students, we are particularly proud to say that:
- 100% of TEEP high school seniors graduated in June and will attend college in September.
- 100% of TEEP college students are on track to graduate on time.
In addition to statistics, the stories of our students and graduates are some of the best evidence of TEEP's success. In the words of one TEEP alumna:
"After 10 years with TEEP, I understand the impact it can have on young people of color who are growing up in Boston. TEEP inspires us to think about how our actions can have an impact on an entire community. You learn that education can help you see beyond your circumstances and put you closer to your dreams.
"This past fall, I helped TEEP students from Boston public schools with SAT prep. They needed assistance with math, English, and writing skills. Just a couple of hours each week made a difference not only in their test skills but also in their self esteem.
"Presently I am a junior at Salem State majoring in political science. I have volunteered for several Boston campaigns for Mayor Menino and for City Councilor Ayanna Pressley and have interned at United South End Settlement, where I helped teach adults with basic education to pass their GED. I hope to be a corporate lawyer and continue to support the issues that TEEP is addressing."
